Anthropologists define culture as the beliefs, values, traditions and customs, and meanings shared by a group of people. We all live in cultures which we share with others - cultures often denominated as ethnic, religious, corporate, social and economic. The term “culture” in the Byzantine or Greek Catholic sense of the term shall include first that which is shared by Eastern Catholics of the Byzantine/Slavonic liturgical tradition and also by other Eastern Catholics and Eastern Orthodox of the same or similar liturgical and ecclesial traditions as well as materials concerning Oriental Christians.

The purpose of this Web site is to research, explore and publish subjects in text and graphics of lasting and general interest to Byzantine or Greek Catholics and also to all other Eastern Christians, Catholic and Orthodox. We believe that this can be done best through a site which is not affiliated with or dependent on any particular parish, eparchy or metropolitanate. This would allow us greater latitude to publish materials of general interest without in any way committing any Church to any opinions or conclusions contained therein. We wish also to invite our readers to contribute to the page with any text and/or graphics, subject to our approval, which may be within the parameters of this site and to offer their comments or criticism whenever appropriate. Any such contributions should be submitted through the site's e-mail address below.
